Our Springs Skills program is ran by Scott Spencer, the head coach of the Lindenwood NCAA Division I women's team along with his staff and players. Each week will feature one skills session and one session focused on small area games.
I want to take this opportunity to invite you to a very special event. The St. Peters Spirit are proud to help sponsor a Gateway Locomotives hockey game at 2PM this Saturday, January 21, Rec-Plex South. The event is a fundraiser for the Locomotives, a team comprised of intellectually disabled athletes who possess a desire to play hockey. These players love hockey, just like our kids do. Given there are a small number of teams like them locally, they have to travel to play. The high repetitive cost of this travel Is why we are helping them with this fundraiser. Admission is $5 and there will be raffles for some great prizes, but the event is about so much more than that.
The joy on the faces of the players when they see all the Spirit families in the stands is priceless. We've hosted this game in years past, and the one thing we constantly hear back from the Locomotives players and families is that the cheering and the support is what inspires them to push on. I am confident they will inspire you and your player as well.
So here is my request. Come out and participate in this great event. Let's pack the stands with our Spirit players. Have your players wear their jerseys and show the Locomotives how much we love the game and support their efforts to participate.
Registration for the Busch Stadium skate is now closed. Per the St. Louis Blues, we are unable to take any more registrations. The Blues have now emailed registered participants. Contact them with any questions.
