Missouri Hockey-Central States Rule Changes

Missouri Hockey has changed their rules for Central States Teams, the following link will take you to their website:  Missouri Hockey Youth Division

The following was copied from Missouri Hockey Youth Division as posted:

Central States Rule Revision

After four months of collaboration, the Missouri Hockey Youth Division is changing our Central States teams and how they are assembled. We believe that exposing Missouri Hockey Players to the best tier 2 league in the country is a benefit to player development and team competition.

We are excited to announce the formation of three new teams that will represent Missouri along similar lines of our districted teams. The move will not only allow for better local competition but, also allow St Louis teams to compete regionally.

With any change, there is always a level of confusion or apprehension but the newly established Central States Competition committee will be equipped to navigate and govern this level of play to meet its' full potential.

A link to the full rule revision can be found below this article.

Central States teams at 11U, 12U, 13U, and 14U fall into districts. The following groups of clubs will field a Central States AA Team together in a three-team scenario:

Meramec Hockey Club/Southern IL/Affton Hockey

Twin Bridges Hockey Club/St Peters Hockey

Chesterfield Hockey Assoc/St. Louis Rockets/Kirkwood Youth Hockey Association

Players must play for the Central States AA team that is grouped with their home association (prior to any One Time Transfer)

Players who live in an open zip code, will be districted to the club that they are rostered with at 6U/8U

Players who OTT to a club are ineligible to play for that club’s Central States team.

Each player must be verified by a school transcript with home address AND a utility bill in the parent’s name

No “grandfather” for players currently playing outside their zip codes. Current players on Central States teams must return to the home club.

Petitions for playing outside of your districted Central States club must be made to the Central States Committee by March 24th with response by March 31st. A Link is provided below this article or use this link: Form

Players who have played Central States for the same club for three seasons will be granted a one-time exemption-however you still must petition for the exemption.

Appeals to committee decisions should be made to the Missouri Hockey Youth Board and will be heard by April 30th. Appeal details will be provided with the committee decision.

St. Peters Hockey New Girls Program

Lady Lions Announcement

This is an exciting time to be a hockey family and fan of this great sport.  This market is a hot bed for hockey with the Blues Stanley Cup Champions and the 2020 All-Star game.  It’s a perfect time to continue to grow the game and the St Peters Hockey Club’s commitment is clear as we launch St Louis Lady Lions, an all-girls hockey program.  St Peters Hockey Club will develop and field teams at every age level eventually and have the first ever girls AA program at certain levels. www.ladylionshockey.com

Regardless if you have a daughter or niece or granddaughter, we need your help to successfully launch the Lady Lions program.  Creating awareness is key.  Please spread the word by posting, like or share on your Social Media accounts www.facebook.com/ladylionshockey  and informing anyone who does have a daughter – your friends, neighbors, co-workers and relatives.  We will host some “Girls Try Hockey for Free” events starting in May to get new girls on the ice and already have substantial interest in our 14U and 16/19U AA teams.

Girls hockey is “open district” so no matter where they live or what zip code they are from they can play for the St Louis Lady Lions.  If a girl is currently playing on a boys’ team, they can continue to do that, or they can play for the girls’ team or even do both.  You do not have to strictly play on the girls’ teams.

Recently,  the Blues, NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman and Bauer Hockey announced their $180,000 commitment to grow girls’ hockey in this market and if anyone saw the 3 vs 3 USA vs Canada women’s game during the All-Star Skills Competition you’ll will agree now is a perfect time to grow this sport.

Expanding St. Peters Hockey by growing the sport with more hockey players and teams helps everyone.  It generates more resources, coaches, families and will help us reach our fundraising goals quicker.  More details between now and next August will be posted online. Thank you in advance for helping our club expand.  Any questions please contact Chris Johnson. At 469-203-9702 or chrisj@ladylionshockey.com.
